Brief History of Sticky Notes Call us enthusiastic but 2006 may well be the beginning of the end for sticky notes. While those ubiquitous yellow reminders have been around for 25 years, we think that never.forget.it will make those pesky little notes history, and save quite a few trees in the process. The unique adhesive that was originally used in Post-it® notes and made them so indispensable was discovered in 1968 by a 3M scientist. However, in those pre-internet days it took over ten years for the invention to find a use (at never.forget.it we make changes overnight). After years of product development, 3M started selling Post-it® notes in 1977. However consumers didn't catch on, so a year later 3M blanketed Boise, Idaho, with tons of free samples. Only after trying the notes did consumers actually decide to buy the product themselves.
Since their intruduction, billions have been sold by hundreds of different brands, think of the trees! So try never.forget.it today, it's as free as those Post-it® samples were in Boise twenty-five years ago. However, unlike 3M, we will never charge you to use this site, even when you're hooked and the idea catches on |
